Cottage in Jūrmala: Priedaine or the centre for you
Jūrmala is 24 kilometres long, and its holiday cottages differ. Ours stand at the quiet end by the river, on the Riga side. Here is an honest comparison with the centre.

Jūrmala by season
In summer Jūrmala is full: the beach, festivals, Jomas iela. In Priedaine the water-ski park runs by day, and in the evening the quiet returns. The centre is 10 minutes away by train, so a concert in the evening and a quiet night by the river go together.
In autumn and winter Jūrmala is empty and beautiful: the beach with a dog, the lookout tower in Dzintari forest park, the water park, saunas in the hotels. The houses have a heater, and the price is the same as in summer.
In spring the river is high and full of birds. In May the park opens its season, and the first SUP boards appear on the water.
What is in the house
Each house has a living room with a kitchen corner, its own bathroom with a shower and room for four: a double bed and a sofa bed. Outside there is a deck with a table, a hanging chair, a grill and the lawn down to the river.

Questions people ask
How far is Jūrmala beach from the houses?
The Lielupe beach is 4.6 km by road: 10 minutes by car (toll zone) or about 25 minutes by bike along the Riga to Jūrmala cycle path, free. Majori beach is 7.5 km.
Do I pay the Jūrmala entry fee in Priedaine?
No. Priedaine is outside the toll zone; a pass is needed only if you drive over the Lielupe bridge to the centre.
What is the price in summer?
The same as all year: EUR 95 on weekdays, EUR 100 on holiday dates, EUR 105 on Friday and Saturday. Summer weekends fill up faster.
Can six people stay in the cottage?
No, each house sleeps four. For six or eight, book both houses: they stand side by side, each with its own deck.
Is there a sauna or a hot tub?
No. The nearest floating hot tub is at the neighbours Seko saulei, 500 metres away, for a separate fee. Saunas are in the Jūrmala hotels across the river.
