A cabin near Riga without a car: train, river, quiet
Most cabins around Riga need a car and an hour on the road. These two stand 22 train minutes from Riga Central Station and a 15-minute walk from Priedaine station.

Train towards Tukums, a 22-minute ride; the times are on vivi.lv. A zone B ticket costs EUR 2.30, in the Vivi app or at a machine.

Get off, walk north through the streets and then along the road by the railway. A backpack is easier than a suitcase.

Why Priedaine and not further out
Sigulda, Cēsis and the Kurzeme coast are beautiful, but on a Friday evening they are two hours away. Priedaine is the start of Jūrmala on the Riga side: the train runs often and late into the evening.
At the houses there is the river, a birch grove, a grill and the water-ski park. Across the river is all of Jūrmala: the beach, the water park, Jomas iela. And on Sunday evening you are home in half an hour.
By car it is just as easy: along the A10 with no Jūrmala pass, parking at the house. The route step by step: Getting here.

Two houses, one river
Saulriets is the black house with a hammock between the birches; Lavanda is the grey one with a sleeping loft and air conditioning. Both sleep four and have a kitchen, a private bathroom, Wi-Fi and a deck with a grill.
A weekday night costs less than a weekend one, and the park is quieter. If you can take your work with you, a Tuesday by the river beats a Saturday.

How long is the walk from Priedaine station?
15 minutes: north through the streets and the last stretch along the road by the railway. The street part is lit, the last few hundred metres are not.

Can one of us come by car and the other by train?
Yes: there is free parking at the house, and the road from the A10 to Priedaine never enters the toll zone.
Is there anywhere to eat nearby?
Priedaine has the grocery shop Daina 700 metres away. Restaurants and supermarkets are across the river in Lielupe and Bulduri, about 4 km. It is easier to bring food and use the grill.
