Pet-friendly Jūrmala: a riverside cabin, the beach rules
One dog is welcome in each house. This page is about what a dog may do at our place, on the river bank and on Jūrmala beach.
What a dog may do at the house
One pet per house; Airbnb adds a pet fee of 6 EUR when you book. Inside, the dog is free; on the shared grounds between the houses and by the park it stays on a lead, because there are other guests, children and sometimes a second dog next door.
Please pick up after your dog. The deck and the lawn are the neighbours' view too, and the park's boats on the bank are people's workplace.
Guests with dogs have stayed here since the first season: the Airbnb reviews include a family with a son and a dog, a couple with a dog, and runners with a dog who liked the paths around.
Jūrmala beach with a dog: when it is allowed
Jūrmala city council binding regulations No. 24 (in force since 24 September 2024), as explained on jurmala.lv and visitjurmala.lv.

Where to walk a dog
The river bank at the houses and the birch grove are right outside the door. Through the streets of Priedaine you can walk to the station and Lielais prospekts, and along the road by the railway to Babītes iela.
Ragakāpa nature park across the river has a 2 km boardwalk through pine forest: dog on a lead, and the boards are slippery in rain. In autumn and winter you can walk the whole 24 km beach with a dog on a lead.
In summer the sea beach is closed to dogs, so for a swim use the river at the houses or Babīte lake on the Riga side.

What to bring for the dog
- A lead and bags: required on the shared grounds
- The dog's bed or a blanket: the sofa and bed in the house are for people
- Bowls and food: the shop is 700 metres away, but it may not stock dog food
- A towel for the dog: the river bank is muddy after rain
- Tick and mosquito protection in summer: a grove and a river

Questions people ask
Is there a charge for a dog?
Yes, Airbnb adds a pet fee to the booking. Mark on the Airbnb booking that you are bringing an animal.
Can I bring two dogs?
The rules say one pet per house. Ask the host on Airbnb about two before you book.
Are dogs allowed on Jūrmala beach?
From 1 November to 31 March, on a lead. From 1 April to 31 October staying on the beach with animals, walking them or bathing them is banned.
Can the dog run free on the lawn?
On the grounds the dog stays on a lead, because the lawn is shared with the other house and the park. For a free run, the grove and the bank with nobody around work well.
Where can a dog swim in summer?
In the river at the houses or in Babīte lake. The sea beach is closed to dogs in summer.
